Course Purpose
The purpose of the educational meeting is to provide the ophthalmologist with a comprehensive awareness of the recent developments in the clinical management of cataract extraction in humanitarian settings.

Course Objectives 
Upon conclusion of the training program, participants should be able to:
• Explain the latest developments in Manual Small Incision Cataract Surgery (MSICS)
• Participate with a mentor in low-technology MSICS in humanitarian setting
• Demonstrate skills needed for proficiency in this procedure

Course Details 
This course will be organized into didactic and wet lab sessions, covering the theoretical and technical components of MSICS. In the wet lab, multiple teams will be working simultaneously at workstations equipped with microscopes, instruments and training tissue. Faculty members will demonstrate the technique and rotate, supervise and assist the participants. Upon conclusion of the wet lab session, an open forum will follow wet labs with discussions designed to stimulate faculty and participant in interaction.

Faculty 
The course will be taught by Dr.Edward Kondrot

Dr. Edward Kondrot is originally from Pennsylvania, graduated from Hahnamann Medical  College in 1977  and did his Internship and Residency in Ophthalmology at St. Francis Hospital in Pittsburgh and the Scheie  Eye Institute in Philadelphia. He became a SEE Affiliate in 2018 and has since participated eye missions in India, Honduras, Ecuador, San Salvador, Liberia, Nigeria, Mexico and Haiti. He has performed well over 1000 MSICS cases. He is very enthusiastic to help other doctors to learn the MSICS skills to participate in eye missions.
